Time and Attendance : Manufacturing

Manufacturing has typically been an environment where the time card and traditional time clock is most prevalent. It is also an area where a dramatic improvement can be obtained with a Legiant system. Our clients, including Dresser Industries, Classic Soft Trim and DPT Laboratories find that they have unique needs that are not met with simple timekeeping systems.

Complexity starts with the scheduling: rotating shifts, 24 hour staffing, swapping shifts between employees, leave requests, and assigning employees to specific lines and work centers.

It continues into data collection, where bar code travelers, work orders, work centers, and lines all have specific reporting requirements as well as collecting shop floor data to interface with ERP. Once you include contractors, staffing, and temp employees, along with co-employment issues, you begin to see why the traditional time clock is as relevant as the horse drawn wagon.

Many of our clients provide real time access via the Legiant Web Timecard to their managers. Many calculate complex shift premiums and union rules. The newest offering for manufacturing clients is the Touch Data touch screen system in which a touch screen terminal can function as data collection as well as a time and attendance system. For more information please see our touch screen product description.

Our philosophy is simple: we meet you where you are today, and provide a clear strategy through our needs analysis process.

If you would like to simplify your labor reporting, provide an 80% reduction in manual effort, and save 1% to 3% of your gross annual payroll, Legiant has the time and attendance solution. Please click here to schedule a short session with our product specialist.

Here is one example of using bar code technology for electronic data collection in a manufacturing environment. In this case, an employee would "shoot" the bar code for the work order and process step that he/she is working on.
